Hyundai Motor India has achieved a historic milestone with the Creta EV, recording over 1 lakh bookings within just 48 hours of opening — crushing every previous EV booking record in the Indian market. Priced starting at ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Creta EV leverages the brand trust of India's best-selling SUV to accelerate mass EV adoption.

Booking Breakdown

Of the 1,00,842 bookings received in 48 hours:

Key Specs: 412 km range (Executive) | 473 km range (Long Range) | 150 kW motor | 0-100 in 7.9 sec | Priced ₹17.99L – ₹23.99L (ex-showroom Delhi)

Why Creta EV is Creating a Frenzy

The Creta EV's success is rooted in Hyundai's understanding of the Indian psyche: familiarity, value, and trust. Unlike purpose-built EVs that require buyers to adapt, the Creta EV retains the iconic silhouette, seating comfort, and interior convenience that 800,000+ existing Creta owners already swear by — while adding an EV powertrain that's been market-tested in global markets.

Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India, said: "The response to Creta EV is a clear signal that India's EV revolution has moved from early adopters to mainstream consideration. Our job now is to ramp production and match this extraordinary demand."

Delivery Timeline Challenge

Hyundai's Talegaon (pune) plant has an EV capacity of 30,000 units/year currently. With 1 lakh+ bookings, delivery wait times are expected to stretch to 6-8 months for most variants. The company has committed to importing additional robotics and expanding capacity to 70,000 EVs/year by Q4 2026.

Deliveries for Executive trim begin March 1, 2026. Long range variants start delivery from April 2026. Signature AWD deliveries are expected to commence in H2 2026.

Competitive Pressure on Tata Motors

The Creta EV's success puts significant pressure on Tata Motors' EV dominance. While Tata controls ~62% of India's EV market currently, industry analysts at ICICI Securities forecast this could drop to 48-52% by end of FY27 if Hyundai meets its production targets. This has pushed Tata to accelerate the Nexon EV Max 2.0 launch timeline by two months.
